Non-Technical

It can get tight out there. This isn't a huge touristy place, but the trailhead is small. You can see the trailhead circled below in red. I have seen more and more people parking in the blue box. However, I am not 100% sure if it is allowed.

There is no approach. Well, I guess there could be a small approach if you started further down Honey Bear Lane (blue box). From the main trailhead, you start heading up the ridge right from the parking lot.
It's a fun one, and an easy run. You can cruise up the ridge to the obvious next incline.

It looks technical, but it is easy to pick your way up. Maybe not for small kids? I can't really be sure about that. This is the path that I took, but obviously there are other routes — use judgment! The view from the saddle at the base of the thumb is the same!

I was able to see some wildlife while I was out there. Bear Valley always seems wild. I love it out here. Can you even see that ptarmigan? I won't lie, I almost ran right by it. The goats are just hanging around the area this summer. A blessing of the highest order!

Ohh, and the flowers. These bright pink ones with the mossy base are some of my favorites!

I was able to make decent time up this one!
